Obituary for John "Jack" Patrick McWilliams

John (Jack) Patrick McWilliams, of Louisville, recently celebrated his 78th birthday and passed away on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at Nazareth Home.

Jack was born in Louisville, KY on Dec. 29, 1944, to Joseph Patrick McWilliams and Mary Louise (Molly) Flanagan. He was a graduate of the Speed Engineering School at the University of Louisville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Subsequently, he worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as an engineer in East Hartford, CT, where he met and married Beverly DeSimone, the love of his life. He furthered his education at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and obtained a Master of Science degree in Physics. Jack then relocated to the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft division in West Palm Beach, FL for a number of years.

Seeking a new challenge and opportunity for leadership, Jack obtained his real estate license and opened his own successful real estate company, Properties Unlimited Realty, Inc. He was a leader in his field and served as President of the National Association of Realtors. After retirement, Jack enjoyed his leisure time with friends and family. He was especially devoted to his pets, enjoying a cat and several beloved dogs throughout his life.

Jack was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He loved being Irish and always displayed a love of storytelling and wit that was part of his heritage, especially a sip of Tullamore Dew on occasion! He will be survived by his sister, Janet McWilliams Calvert; brother, Tim McWilliams (Ann); sister-in-law, Tina McWilliams; niece, Erin McWilliams Dunagan (Ed); and nephew, Joseph McWilliams (Lisa); and Casey.

The family invites friends to gather at O’Shea’s Irish Pub, 956 Baxter Avenue, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, to celebrate Jack’s wonderful life!
