Obituary for Joseph E. Brian

Joseph Emmanuel Brian, 94, died peacefully November 9, 2022, with his family at his side.

He was a graduate of Saint Meinrad Seminary, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a retired realtor, and an active stock investor. He was born in Colesburg, Kentucky during The Great Depression as one of 17 children to Paul Jerome Brian and Mayme French Brian. He loved classical music and for many years had a special interest in helping the poor and providing food to the needy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 14 siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marlyn Ann Mathews Brian; six children, Joseph Patrick, Paul Michael, Rosie Brian Turner Foerster (Chuck), Joseph Mark (Dana), Ann Maureen, and Karen Marie (Tim Hargesheimer); 11 grandchildren, Luke, Amelia, Lydia (Eric), Eliza, Elena, Lucia, Lillian, Ivan, Gabriel, Jonah, and Ingrid; 2 great grandchildren, Kai, and Arya; and sisters, Winnifred Sweat and Sister Johanna, SL.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road.
