Obituary for Joseph J. Mayer Jr.
Joseph John Mayer, Jr. (“Jack”) of Louisville passed away on Sunday August 28, 2022.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John (“Red”) and Mary Mayer; and his in-laws, Clarence and Gail Blum. He is survived by Marcia, his loving wife of 51 years; his three children, Rod (Kimberly), Craig (Lori) and Kristin (Ryan); eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Jack was a 1970 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He served honorably in the National Guard, and worked in sales and management for Eaton Corporation for nearly forty years. Jack was a devoted Catholic and long-time member of St. Bernard Parish. Jack loved life. He poured his heart and soul into everything that he did. He had a tireless work ethic. Jack loved to socialize with friends, go to Nolin Lake and Destin, and watch his grandchildren play sports. More than anything, Jack loved his wife, family, and friends. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jack will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm -8:00 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with a funeral Mass on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
