SCHWEITZER, Joseph E., 80, of Louisville, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Louisville, he was a graduate of St. X High School, Class of 1950, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired after 60 years with Prairie Farms, and a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hilda Schweitzer; his children, Karen Rapson (Tom), Mary Fenwick, Joe Schweitzer (Cheri), Nick Schweitzer (Denise), and David Schweitzer (Tara); brother, James Schweitzer; sister, Patricia Schweitzer; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, at his church, 1020 East Burnett Ave with burial of ashes to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Joseph E. Schweitzer Scholarship Fund, c/o Highlands Funeral Home.
