Obituary for Joyce O'Bryan (Hancock)
Eleanor Joyce O’Bryan passed away on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at Norton Women and Children’s Hospital. Her family was by her side.
She was born on July 11th, 1930 in Columbus, Ga. She was the daughter of Nathan Creel and Cora Lee Taylor Hancock. Joyce’s first love was her family including her dog Sadie. She graduated from Atherton H. S. in 1948 and, years later, worked for 19 years in the school office as their bookkeeper. She belonged to Wildwood CC for 30 years and was an avid fan of the University of Louisville and especially Denny Crum. Her favorite pass time was playing bridge where she made so many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Hugh Sr., daughter Sandra Kay and son David Robert O’Bryan.
She is survived by William H. Jr. (Linda), and Gary L. (Wendy), grandchildren Patrick, Jenny, Jeramie, Jodie, Shannon, Hunter, Halle, Cody, Nathan and Sandra, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday January 2nd, 2024 from 11am to 1pm with a service immediately following at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery following the Service.
