Obituary for Katherine Mae "Kathy" Ethington (Kessenger)
Katherine Mae Ethington, age 71, passed away peacefully with family at her side, on Friday 18th 2019, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born the youngest of 4 siblings, on July 21st, 1948, in Louisville, to Dorothy and Herman Kessenger. She married Jerry Ethington on Feb 1st 1968 and they raised two twin boys.
Kathy had a heart of giving and spent the majority of her life in service to all those she encountered. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the most important thing in her life and she loved sharing her faith in Love to others. Among her many joys, she loved music and spending time with friends and family. She never met a stranger and treasured fellowship with her Southeast Christian Church community
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Herman Kessenger, and her sister, Barbara Stivers and her niece, Kim Kessenger.
She is survived by her best friend and sister, Shirley Wright, brother, Eddie Kessenger, husband, Jerry Ethington, two sons Mark Ethington and Michael Ethington, daughter-in-law, Jenny Everett Ethington, and two grandchildren, Finley Grace Ethington and Alden David Ethington and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, 2019, from 4-8 pm at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 1 pm at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
