Obituary for Katherine Lucille House (Brown)

HOUSE, Katherine Lucille, 76, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Baptist Hospital East.
A native of Bardstown, she was a graduate of Spalding University with a Master’s Degree in Library Science. She was a retired Librarian and held positions at the Naval Ordnance Station, Filson Historical Society, American Printing House for the Blind and Beargrass Christian Church. She was the author of family histories on the Hurst/Finn families, the Abell family in Nelson County and the Brown/Edwards/Sharp families.
She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and of the Kentucky Library Association and the Kentucky Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. House, and her parents, William Gilbert Brown, Sr. and Mary Louise Hurst Brown.
She is survived by her daughters, Rachael K. House (Jonathan Elders) of Redondo Beach, California, and Sara L. House (Richard Maupin) of Lanesville, Indiana; grandsons, Brandon T. House and Robert P. Elders; granddaughter, Katherine Elders; sister, Mollie R. Brown of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brothers, William G. Brown, Jr. (Beverly) of Bardstown, Charles Gamie Brown (Vickie) of Louisville, and Joseph Len Brown (Penny) of San Diego, California.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, May 12 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
