Obituary for Kenneth Paul Graham

Kenneth Paul Graham, 94, of Pewee Valley, Ky departed this world November 28, 2018 at
home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee on January
14, 1924 and grew up in Nashville, TN. During WWII, Kenneth graduated from the Naval V-12
program at Georgia Tech and Columbia University as a Lieutenant JG and then returned to
Nashville following the war to complete his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt
University.
As an avid and descriptive storyteller, he kept his friends and family amused with tales of the of
colorful characters and friends he met and worked with in Eastern Kentucky during his years
with Cherokee Coal Company. His wit and humor was well known, appreciated and vividly
remembered by all who enjoyed his company. He never met a person he couldn’t see the
good in or a person he didn’t like. The ultimate optimist, Kenneth was known by many to be
one of the kindest and good-natured men they had ever known.
One of the many joys in Kenneth’s life was his love of food, an occasional good cigar, and his
famous Gibson Martini. His devotion to his wife of 70 years and to his family was obvious to
all. He was a charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday
School for 22 years.
Kenneth will be missed, his memory cherished. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nell C.
Graham, his daughter Patricia G. Palmer (Bradford T. Palmer), his son Kenneth Paul Graham, Jr
(Celia A.), his grandchildren Dr. Eliot Graham and McKenna Graham.
