HAYS, LINDA RIES, 69, of Louisville went home to the Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Kindred Hospital due to complications from her battle with multiple diseases.
Born October 11, 1940 to Ed and Vivian Ries, she is survived by her three children, Chad Hays, Corey Hays and Cara Hays Brown (Joe); her sister, Betty Ries Ewing (Jim); and four beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa Katelyn Summers, Joseph Wyatt Brown, Skyler Ries Hays and Landon Edward Brown. A fifth grandchild is due in April.
A graduate of Hanover College and 40 year member of Southeast Christian Church, Linda dedicated her life to education and her faith in the Lord. As a Spanish teacher at Sacred Heart Academy, she touched countless lives and shared her love for a language and a culture in a way no other could. She was loved by her students, the faculty and administrators, and anyone else who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was the absolute best mother a person could have. Every friend her children brought home called her "Mom". She was just that great that everyone wanted to claim her as theirs.
Linda had the most wonderful friends who filled her life with companionship and love. Anyone would be blessed to have people like this in their lives. They are very loved and appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road on Sunday, January 17 2010, from 2-7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Southeast Christian Church Chapel, 920 Blankenbaker Pkwy., followed by a short graveside service in Cave Hill Cemetery.
