Obituary for Lynn Walton Oates
Lynn W. Oates (87) of New Albany, IN passed away on March 24, 2024 in Louisville, KY.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith F. Oates; daughters, Laura Oates and Jennifer Milburn; sister, Melva K. Adams; nieces, nephews and friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Melva Oates; brothers, Murl Oates and Jack Oates; daughter, Diana Hunn.
Lynn graduated from New Albany High School in 1954 and later earned a Doctor of Pharmacology degree from Purdue University. He dedicated 40 years to Taylor Drug Stores and also worked part time as a pharmacist for CVS and Target.
In his free time, Lynn enjoyed cheering for his beloved Purdue Boilermakers, caring for animals and engaging in hands on projects. He was never too busy to listen and was always willing to help. He had a passion for history, genealogy and solving Sudoku puzzles.
Services will be held at Highlands Funeral Home 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 2pm-8pm and on Friday from 10am until the service time at Noon. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 4400 Bardstown Rd.
Lynn will be dearly missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
