Obituary for Mary Theresa Reesor

Mary Theresa Reesor, 93, of Louisville passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Born November 11, 1928, she was the second of three children of Albert Edward and Mary Eunice (Wood) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert G. and Charles E. Johnson, and by her husband of almost 44 years, Forrest A. Reesor. Until a stroke in 2019 forced her to remain at home, she was an active member of St. Barnabas Parish (now John Paul II Parish) for over fifty years. A devoted wife and mother, unless it was a trip to the ocean, she liked nothing better than to have her family gathered with her to talk and play games. For years she worked selflessly to prepare a turkey feast on Thanksgiving for her family and relatives, even though she abhorred the thought of eating poultry of any kind. She tirelessly nursed her father through months of illness and physical decline, allowing him to remain at home until the moment of his death. Years later she did the same for her husband. She is survived by her six children, John Reesor, Diane Witten, Jeffrey Reesor (Margaret), Ronald Reesor, Elaine Reesor, and Karen Carter (Bobby); six grandchildren, William Reesor (Theresa), Amelia Reesor, Andrew Reesor, Therese Elmer (Kevin), Robert Carter, and Elizabeth Carter; and by three great-grandchildren (with a fourth on the way).

Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at John Paul II Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 17.

Memorial gifts may be made to Right to Life of Louisville.
