Obituary for Margy Ann Palmer (Pitt)

Margy Ann Pitt Palmer, 86, was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Springs of Stony Brook after a short illness. Margy was a retired piano and music teacher.

Having begun her music lessons at the tender age of three, Margy perfected her craft at Garden Court, the University of Louisville Music School. For over forty years, she brought music to the hearts of many young people and had an extraordinary concert career. Many of her former students often say they owe their livelihoods to Miss Margy.

Margy was proceeded in death by her beloved Parents, Josephine and Ernest Curd Pitt, Grandparents, Anna and Ben F. Long, Marguarite and W.E.Pitt, and her two brothers, Benjamin Long Pitt and Terry Ernest Pitt.

Her survivors include her husband Gerald L. Palmer, Jr., her helpmate and best friend for nearly sixty-six years, her son, the Reverend Dr. Bradley Palmer (Sherry), her daughter, Ms. Joanna Palmer Lowry (Gary Hobbs), her grandsons Charles Benjamin Palmer, and Collin Walker Lowry.

In addition, she is survived by her niece, Ms. Terri Pitt Vaughn (Frank Sittnick) of Miami, Florida, and two special cousins, Mr. Edmond M. Smith, Jr. (Ann), and Ms. Marguerite S. Patterson (Joe). She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

During her life, she was a longtime member of the Highland Presbyterian Church.

The family will welcome friends for visitation at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. and Friday, August 5 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Margy Ann will be held immediately following visitation on Friday at Highlands with the Reverend Charles Brockwell, Parish Associate of Highland Presbyterian Church officiating.
A private family burial service for the family will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.

The family requests memorial gifts in Margy’s memory may be made to the Down Syndrome of Louisville (5001 S Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40291), Highland Presbyterian Church (1011 Cherokee Rd., Louisville, KY 40204), or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family now takes this opportunity to thank the management and staff of the Springs of Stoney Brook and Hosparus of Louisville for their support and tender loving care. We also thank family and friends for sharing in our celebration of our beloved Margy.
