Obituary for Marianne Riedling Glass

Marianne Riedling Glass, 88, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 11 at Baptist Health Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence P. “Buddy” Glass. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Kern; nephew Keith Kern (Janis), nieces Lisa Rausch (Jeff), Mary Beth (Troy), and Nancy (Lloyd); several great-nieces; a great-nephew; and a great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Conniff.

Aunt Mari and Uncle Buddy met while working at the Southern Bell Telephone Company and married on December 24, 1949 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They beat the odds and had 69 wonderful years together. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church for the past several years and dearly loved her church. She retired from Liberty National Bank.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11am, at the funeral home.

Aunt Mari was a second mother to all of us, and was always there for us when we needed her. There isn’t a childhood memory that doesn’t feature Aunt Mari and Uncle Buddy prominently in it. We were all very blessed to have her in our lives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Mari’s honor, or just simply feed the birds.
