Obituary for Marjorie Lee Taylor (Williams)

Marjorie Williams Taylor

March 18th- March 10, 2023

Marjorie Taylor of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully on March 10th after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Margie was born on March 18, 1934 to Edith and Albert Williams. She was the eldest of four children and loved her siblings Betty Karole Scharbach (Larry deceased), James (Jim) Williams (Helen) and Gloria Krekel (Tom deceased) dearly. Margie attended Sacred Heart Academy, University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

Margie married the love of her life Robert Taylor Sr, whom she is survived by, in 1957. They spent 65 wonderful years as husband and wife. She will be remembered as the most loving mother and grandmother. Together with Bob, she had 3 children, Nanette Edelen (Chris), Robert Jr. Taylor (Laura) and J. Todd Taylor (Alice). Margie is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Kristen Bibby, Lauren Cole, Michael Edelen, Elyse Taylor- Stoess, Lydia Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Wesley Taylor, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Margie enjoyed being a member of the Louisville Homemaker’s Club and was fond of playing tennis and golf with her friends at Hurstbourne Country Club. Margie was extremely proud to work in the family business, Taylor Trunk Co. Later in life she found a passion for painting. Her family members will treasure the works of art she made for them. She practiced her craft at Grey Studios and cherished her trip to Provence, France where she studied in plein air.

For the past three years she has been living at the Legacy at English Station. She was given great care by their loving staff. She was loved by residents and staff and was known for always having a smile on her face.

Margie will be dearly missed by all her loved ones. Her memory and the times shared with her will live on in their hearts forever.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Associates of Louisville.

A visitation will be held at the back of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m on Wed., March 15, 2023 followed directly by a funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. She will be buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in a private burial ceremony.
