Obituary for Mary Ransdell Dunlap

In Loving Memory of
Mary Ransdell Dunlap
1954-2020

Mary Ransdell Dunlap, 65, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2020 with her family by her side.

Mary was born on December 8, 1954 in Louisville, KY, to Tom and Mildred (Kleine-Kracht) Ransdell. She graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1976. While at Murray State, she met her loving husband, Paul Wayne Dunlap, and the two were married at St. Agnes Catholic Church on May 22, 1976.
Together they raised a son and two daughters.

A devoted military wife, teacher, and loving mother, Mary spent most of her adult life moving around the world with her husband and family. Admired for her dedication, compassion, warmth, and fair mindedness, Mary loved creative pursuits, smiles and hugs, and being with her family. No matter where the family moved through their lives, Mary’s love for her parents, siblings, and Louisville never waned.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Dunlap; her son, Christopher Dunlap (Virginia); her two daughters, Jennifer Hall (Nick) and Amber Peter (Bru); three grandchildren, Abram Hall, Milo Hall and Breuer Peter; her mother, Mildred Ransdell; her six siblings, Terry Miller (Greg), Thomas Ransdell (Davie), Jean Johnson (Ken), Angela Traylor (Tony), Linda Ryan (Bill), Rick Ransdell (Jody); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout Mary’s battle with early-onset Alzheimer's, there was still much joy, but she is now at peace. The family would like to extend the warmest thanks for the support and prayers over the course of her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Mary Dunlap's honor to St. Joseph's Children's Home.

At her request, no service will be held.
