September 2, 1944 - April 22, 2022

Beloved wife for 49 years of Dr. Paul Forrest. Beloved mother of Cynthia Larsen (husband Kenyon). Beloved grandmother of Julia & Skyler. Beloved sister of Charles, Patricia, John, Barbara, Kathryn, Margaret, James, Thomas, Michael & David. She is also survived by her step-daughters Karie (husband Bill; children Rachel & Ryan) & Chrisanne (children Natalie, Laurie, & Heidi; grandchildren Junia & Linden). She is predeceased by her parents Irma & Charles Fye and her first husband Steve Friedler.

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, the fourth of eleven children, Mary Lou spent her entire early education and graduated St. Mary’s, in Warren, Ohio. She was always a helper who put her family first. She had an adventurous spirit, and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a graduate of California State University, Sacramento, where she studied History and was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta honor society and obtained her teacher’s certificate. She was a longtime member of PEO and was dedicated to supporting women’s access to higher education. She was a generous friend and host, who welcomed guests from around the world. She lived with courage, humility, generosity, and constancy. She made everything beautiful & fun.

Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church, Prospect, KY on Friday, April 29th at 11am followed by a reception to which all are invited. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette’s Church or P.E.O., International. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is a philanthropic women’s organization which was founded in 1869 and owns Cottey College, a women’s college in Nevada, MO.] Checks may be sent to: P.E.O.
