Obituary for Mary A. Kenney (Yurt)
Mary Agnes Kenney, 87 of Louisville, entered her eternal reward on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Baptist East Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Louisville, KY, October 9, 1933 to the late Joseph and Bertha Yurt.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Kenney; her son, Bruce; grandson, Gregory Thomas Kenney; and brother, Joseph Yurt.
She is survived by her children; Kevin (Linda), Dr. Barbara Pawley (Daniel), Paul (Jill), Tom (Colleen), Kathy George (Dr. Anthony), and Rev. Brian. Grandchildren: Richard, Lisa, Karen, Michael, Andrew, Sarah, Laura, Matthew, Melissa, Allison, Lydia, Emily, Sophia, Lauren, Katie, Alex, Natalie, Steven, Elizabeth, Catherine, Dominic, Anastasia, Cameron, Kaylynn, Anthony, Maria, Isabelle; and her 21 great-grandchildren.
Mary and Bob were joined in marriage on October 17, 1953 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. She stayed home and raised her seven children until the last was in high school. She was an extraordinary mother who showed her children how to live a virtuous and Christ-centered life.
She then started her 27 year career with H&R Block Tax as a tax preparer, which she found great joy in doing. Mary loved to play bridge with her friends several times a week and shopping was a passion. She cherished her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be 8:30a.m. Monday at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S. 6th Street, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, 40205.
Visitation will be 2 to 8p.m. Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., 40205.
