Mary Alice Lindsey, 77, of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021.
Mary was born in Louisville, KY on November 28, 1943 to Denny Jones, Jr. and Rena Jones. Her father was killed in 1944 serving in the Army during World War II. She was raised in Cecilia, KY and later in Horse Branch, KY by her mother and two grandmothers, Vonnie Jones and Lilly Richardson. Her mother remarried and they settled in Elizabethtown, KY.
She graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1961, and attended The University of Kentucky School of Nursing for three years. She was charmingly attractive and was elected The Sweetheart of Phi Gamma Delta in 1963.
She found her husband Jim Lindsey while at UK, and they married in 1964. She went on to graduate from Indiana University with a degree in microbiology and worked several years in that field. They raised two sons, Dennis Lindsey (Renee) and David Lindsey (Angela), and spent most of their married life in Louisville, KY.
She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Jim; two half sisters, Janna (Frank) and Cathy (Kevin); and three beloved grandchildren, Brea, Hunter, and River.
Mary was a friend of Bill W. and worked many years in the addiction recovery field for an organization now known as The Morton Center.
She loved fishing and gardening; her backyard was a showplace. She was an accomplished oil painter, a collector of angels, and known for thorough and loving notes. Her love language was gift giving.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 6th, 2021, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, KY 40205. Her funeral and burial will be private.
