Obituary for Mary Helen Meiman
Mary Helen Meiman, 90, passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2023, with her family by her side. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Mary was born on March 18, 1933, to the late James Colgate and Anna Garthwaite. She was very active in her children’s school, St. Elizabeth of Hungary. She was a den mother, PTA president, cafeteria worker, and seamstress for school plays, just to name a few. She delivered for Meals on Wheels and volunteered with several groups assisting the underprivileged. When her youngest child was in grade school, she went to work as a real estate agent.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Meiman, her infant son, Carl Stephen Meiman; her great-grandson, Tristan Herp; and her sister, Carol Yocum. She is survived by her children, Linda Herp (Kenny), Tim Meiman (Beverly Hornback), Sherry Scoggan, Judy Logan (Stan), and Tom Meiman; along with eight grandchildren, April Wimberg (Mike), Sara Herp, Steve Herp (Tamara), Jon Scoggan, Andrew Scoggan (Megan), Graham Logan (Holly), Matt Logan and Josh Logan; as well as nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Matter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be Friday, July 7th, 2023, 10:00 am, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Avenue, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 6th, 2023, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Baptist Health Louisville or Mass of the Air.
