Obituary for Mary Olive Skaggs

SKAGGS, MARY OLIVE (GARDNER), 92, of Louisville, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at her home.
She retired after 31 years of work for the Federal Government, most of these years serving as secretary to the Chief of Social Work at the V.A. Hospital in Louisville. She became an avid golfer, taking up the game in her 50s and continuing to play into her 91st year.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Augustus F. "Gus" Skaggs; brothers, Cuthbert "Cup" Gardner, James D. Gardner and Edward Ray Gardner; and sister, Gertrude Sandifer.
Her survivors include her daughter, Carol Skaggs (Mike Morrissey), of Roswell, GA; brothers, Hugh Kenneth Gardner (Bernice) and David Smith Gardner (Bernice); and sisters, Dorothy Goldsmith and Maude Ratliff (Leon).
Funeral services for Mary Olive will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
