Obituary for Merle R. Likins Sr.
Merle Likins, Sr. P.E, 96 of Louisville, passed away on Friday December 14th, 2018.
He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in World War II in the Pacific. He was an Allstate Basketball Player for Hardinsburg High School and a Scoutmaster. He was also known for his family stories and his war stories. He was retired as a Chemical Engineer for Standard Gravure.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Likins, his parents, Henry and Malissia Likins and one daughter in law, Linda Likins.
Merle is survived by one son, Dr. Merle Likins, Jr., two daughters, Marilynn Benim (Tom) and Leslie Likins (Tom White), three grandchildren, Kathleen Elswick (David), Dr. Scott Likins (Susan) and Erin Mayland (Nate) and 6 great-grandchildren, Owen, Evan, Eli, Max, Vivienne and Stella.
Visitation will be Tuesday December 18th, from 10AM to 12PM, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. His Funeral Service will be 12 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
