Obituary for Myra Stinson Hohenstein (Brown)

Myra Stinson Hohenstein (Brown), 64, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2023. A Louisville, Kentucky native, she was born on June 28, 1958 to proud parents James and Ethel Brown.

Myra exuded a love and light that was larger than life itself. Everywhere she went she made fast friends due to her kind and spunky disposition. Myra was the funniest person you've ever met, if you had the pleasure. Her laughter was genuine, loud, and positively magnetic. She loved to sing, whistle, and dance. She was a true hippie at heart. Myra had a way with her facial expressions and story-telling that left audiences captivated, engaged, and amused. She was a generous spirit, filled with the light of Christ, that blessed us all. Myra started her career in the computer science space at a company called Electronic Data Systems for many years before pursuing her passion in medicine, becoming a Registered Nurse (Dialysis and Psych) for the past 25 years. Three years ago, Myra was cut down in her prime with an aggressive Cancer diagnosis. True to form, she fought long and hard, through her suffering, often with a smile on her face bringing joy to those around her. She is now perfectly released from her pain and finally at peace. Of all things, Myra was most enamored with her children and grandchildren, who she loved endlessly. Being a Mother and Grandmother was by far her most cherished position in life. Her spirit of love lives on through all the hearts of those she has touched, and all who were blessed to have known her, and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her Father James Brown, Mother Ethel Brown, Grandmother Mary Taylor, Brother Michael Brown, and Sister Laura White (Brown), among others.

Myra is survived by a host of loved ones including her Son Andrew Hohenstein (Wife Stephanie Hohenstein), Daughter Elizabeth Hohenstein (Fiance Kevin Corso), and Five Grandchildren: Drew, Hailey, Cooper, Oliver, and Stella. Her Sister Denise Sales and her Children Sarah Robinson (Husband David, Daughter Charlotte), Melody Drexler (Husband Chris, Son Sawyer), and Emily Newton (Husband Daniel). Karen Goodlett, Julia Spencer, Sandra Wynn, Ronda Lukevich, Susan Cox, Shelly McGrath. Myra is also survived by countless other loving family members and friends who she deeply cared for. She was so loved, and loving to those in her life.

Arrangements will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. 40205 on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. All are welcome for Visitation from 9am to 1pm. The funeral service will be held at 1pm. Following will be a procession to Evergreen Cemetery on Preston Hwy. where she will be laid to rest.

Expressions of sympathy may be made directly to Myra's children as they navigate this difficult time. Donations in her honor may be made to the Brown Cancer Center.
