Obituary for Nona Dugan Preher

Nona Dugan Preher, 98, joined her Heavenly Father on May 6th, 2020.

She was born February 5, 1922, in New Albany, In., daughter of Nora and Raymond Dugan. She married Louis W. Preher of Louisville in 1942 and followed him to California where he served with the 785th US Army MP Battalion during WWII. Coming home to Louisville, they settled into the parish of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic church where she was active in the Altar Society, Homemakers and Sarafun Senior Club.

She retired from the Sons of the American Revolution, receiving the Martha Washington Medal for her service. As the last original member of her card group, she enjoyed playing games once a month for 58 years. She was known for enjoying penny slots and eating chocolate candy. Memories of Mimi will be cherished for her love of family and her determination to be involved in grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and celebrations.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Raymond, Jr., her husband of 62 years, Louis Preher, son, Edward, grandchild, “Little Paul Fitch” and a sister, Doris Pfister.

Nona is survived by her son, William Preher (Sharon R.), a daughter Sharon L. Fitch (Paul) and daughter-in-law Janis Preher. Mom adored her 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They brought their Mimi great joy.

Many thanks to the staff at Twinbrook for their care in her last year.

Expression of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

A private service will be held due to Covid19 restrictions.
