Obituary for Patricia Dolack

Patricia Gingrich Dolack, 87, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023. She was born July 28, 1935 in Miller, Nebraska to Leota and Raphael Gingrich. Soon after, they moved to Evansville, Indiana. She attended Georgetown College and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She completed her education at Nazareth College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at St. Joseph’s Infirmary.

Pat met her husband Bob through one of her hospital patients. They were married nearly 64 years and had two daughters.

Pat was a positive, authentic, resilient, vivacious and giving person who cared deeply about her family and was active in the many causes she supported throughout her life. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, Phi Beta Psi Sorority for 59 years, where she served as National First Vice President. She served as her daughters’ elementary and high school PTA President and then President of Jefferson County Schools PTA. She was a Girl Scout leader and served as the nurse for Cedar Ridge Church Camp several weeks each summer. She was a patron of Actor’s Theater and the Louisville Orchestra. She was an officer of the Past Presidents’ Leadership Council. She served on the Board as Chairwoman of Seven Counties Services and on the Board of the American Cancer Society. She was also a member of the Oncological Nursing Society. She worked a few years for Jefferson County Public Schools and New York Life, then returned to her passion: nursing until she retired at the age of 77 from Audubon Hospital.

Pat was a voracious reader and belonged to two book groups. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of three bridge clubs. She enjoyed the years she spent in the Highland Presbyterian Choir, even traveling with the choir to Europe. Travel was another passion – she even had her email username as travelingpat. Definitely not least was her love of University of Louisville sports, especially women’s basketball, holding season tickets for years.

Pat was predeceased by her brother, David Gingrich, and her parents.

Pat is survived by her husband, Bob, sister Marilyn Kay Keys (Jerry), children Jenny Mefford (Tom) and Becky Kinderman (Ken), grandsons Matthew (Jules) and Michael Kinderman, Robert Mefford, Matthew Mefford, granddaughter Kari Booten (Max), and great-grandchildren Madelyn and Jack Booten.

Visitation is from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road; and from 10:00 -11:00 AM Saturday at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1011 Cherokee Road. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phi Beta Psi Sorority (National Project is cancer research) c/o National Treasurer Ellen Waldo, PO Box 17208, Tucson, AZ 85731.
