Obituary for Patricia Ann Montgomery
Patricia Ann, 76, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018.
Pat graduated from Ursuline College with a Bachelor’s degree and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Louisville. She continued her education being in the first class at the University of Louisville Behavioral Disorders Certification Program. She taught in this area for several years before moving into administration in JCPS.
Pat began her teaching career at St Leo the Great Catholic elementary school and later moved to the Jefferson County Public School System, first teaching at Auburndale Elementary then onto teaching children with Behavioral Disorders.
Pat first served as a supervisor in the Central Office of JCPS for Exceptional Child Education and was later appointed Director of Staff Development for Gheens Professional Development and continued in this position until her retirement in 1997.
After retirement, Pat served in many other leadership positions in her personal life and was recognized for her wise counsel, dedication and hard work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Emma Belle Montgomery; and nieces, Debbie Hoben and Celeste Mullennex.
Pat is survived by her siblings, Dorothy Beckmann (Charles), Sue Lawson, and Bob Montgomery (DiAnne); nine nieces and nephews, including Rick Lawson and Becky Beckmann-White, who cared for her. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, with a special thanks to great-niece, Brianna Thompson for her loving care.
Visitation will be 12noon-7pm Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens, West.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
