Obituary for Paul William Shaw

Paul William Shaw
On October 16, 1918, a beautiful fall day, Paul William Shaw was born on the family Homestead farm to Carl and Merle Shaw in Haubstadt, IN. A long life lived with passion, pride, great achievements, and many accomplishments. Our proud Veteran served both theaters in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator. His military service helped forge the foundation for his career with the Federal Aviation Administration for 31 years. He was proud of his World War II service; he showed that by proudly wearing his World War II hat to the very end.
Paul felt like his greatest legacy is his two sons, Dennis Shaw and Warren Shaw (Susan), and his four granddaughters: Kim Peters (Kyle), Cyndi Shaw, Heather Shaw, Amanda Shaw; great granddaughter Abby Peters; and daughter-in-law Dorothy Shaw McIntyre. Appreciating the value and importance of higher education, he took great pride in knowing his sons and granddaughters earned advanced degrees in all their respective fields. Paul cherished serving as a volunteer with St. Mark United Methodist Church, of which he was a founding member. He also loved to share his memories, stories, and experiences of his time with the Boy Scouts of America where he volunteered for many years.
On June 7, 2018, Paul entered the pearly gates of Heaven with double chocolate ice cream cones, balloons, and his extensive library of music. We can imagine him being greeted by his wife of 66 years, Mary Walters Shaw; his son Dennis Shaw; his parents, and his siblings. May he also hear God’s words: “WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.”
The Shaw Family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the staff at Symphony at Oaklawn & ComFor Care for their personal and dedicated attention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20th from 2-6 with service to follow at Highlands Funeral Home on Taylorsville Rd.
