Obituary for Philip Edward Strohmeier, Sr.

Philip Edward Strohmeier Sr. passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 90 in Louisville, Kentucky at The Springs Stony Brook Nursing Home with his family at his side.

Philip was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and previously a deacon at both Meadowview Presbyterian Church and Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church. Philip attended Jeffersontown Elementary. He completed three years at Jeffersontown High School then went on to graduate with the first class of Eastern High School in 1951. Philip proudly attended the University of Kentucky where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Philip was a lifelong resident of Jeffersontown and Hikes Point. He always cherished his memories of growing up in Jeffersontown on Grand Avenue. He often said there was just enough country and city in Jeffersontown for a young boy to have a wonderful childhood in the 1930’s and 40’s. Throughout his life, he enjoyed family gatherings, the outdoors, yard work, watching UK sports, and playing golf.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Linda Lee Strohmeier; and his 5 children – Laura Strohmeier Simons, Philip E.
