She met her future husband, Charles (Charlie) Gipperich Jr., after World War II and married him in 1950. They started the Gipperich Company in 1960 as manufacturers’ representatives where she served several years as business manager and secretary, then worked part-time until their retirement. Phyllis and Charlie celebrated 72 years of marriage in April of this year.

Phyllis was dearly loved by her family and many friends. She played tennis and bridge from the time she was a teenager. She also enjoyed travel, reading, and golf. She and her husband were charter members of Hurstbourne Country Club. She participated in bible study at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church for twenty years, sponsoring them in her home for ten years until she suffered from a chronic illness. She also ran a white elephant booth at Saint Margaret Mary picnics. She was famous for hosting large family gatherings for birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Charles; her children Janet Chapman, Chuck Gipperich (Connie), Betty Bekebrede (Ron), Susie Bartholomai (Greg); 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by beloved parents, Fred and Lodema Simon; brother, Paul Simon; son in-law, Mark Chapman, and many of her friends.
