Condolence: Connie, I must tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Johnny Luken called me last week and I found out for the first time about Ray. I hadn't heard from Johnny since we all met for lunch with Ray about one year ago. I must tell you, for years when I saw a Dauenhauer truck, I would think about what a fabulous success story the two of you had written, and I was very proud to know the two of you.God bless

Condolence From: B Frey
Condolence: Connie and Courtney. I worked at Dauenhauer Plumbing some twelve years ago. I am so very sorry about Ray and unfortunately I just found out today about his passing. I truly enjoyed when Ray came in the office as he had a smile for everyone and eventhough was stern in his requests for information, always had a kind word. I ran into him several times at various functions years after I was no longer at Dauenhauer and he always had a smile there and always asked how things were going. I came to Dauenhauer as I had previously worked Allen & Wheatley Home Builders and Ray was their plumbing co. Other than that, I didn't really know your family personally, but can only imagine his kindness was due to his sincere happiness in life. Take Care

Condolence From: Raymond Morris
Condolence: Dear Connie and Courtney, I am another person you do not know but I knew your husband. I knew Ray from DeSales High School and EKU. My name back then was Earl Schupp. Ray and I double-dated many weekends with our respective girlfriends. He was a wonderful person to be around, a lot of fun, and yet a calming force. One particular night I spent the night at his house and Ray, thinking I was sleeping, struck a match to my hair to see if I was really asleep! Thank God he controlled the fire … still, I wonder if that is why I am bald now! I saw Ray back in September 2010 for the first time (and the last time) since I left EKU in 1962. Good man, Ray. God gave him to us for a relatively short time. He’s in heaven where he rightfully belongs.

Condolence From: Martin & Trudy Ray
Condolence: Dear Connie, You don't know us but we think you sat next to us on the flight back home from Tampa on the 3rd. First let us offer you our deepest sympathy for your loss - sounds like Ray was a much loved and respected man. Our family was vacationing in Florida over the week between Christmas and New Years. Our son, a young criminal defense attorney, was having a difficult time away from his work and, much to our dismay, elected to change his flight to return home early on the 30th. We overheard you mention that you got the last seat on the flight. Interesting that of all the seats you could have chosen on that flight you sat next to us in the seat that would have been our son's. God works in mysterious ways and we are grateful that our son's cancellation may have provided you with a timely way home. We wish you and Courtney well.

Condolence: As we each go through our own lives, we have the opportunity to know, meet and work with thousands of others. In all my, now 70 years, there are very few folks I’ve met, all across America, who could be truly be introduced as a perfect example of what has made our Nation great. Without question, one of those few is Ray Dauenhauer. He has been simply a marvelous person to know, work with, commiserate with and to share those precious times of life. His heroic being was never better reflected than by the incredibly daunting strength he exhibited over the past 21 months. It’s been a genuine honor to know this really special guy named Ray Dauenhauer. Connie and Courtney – You are most fortunate to have been Ray’s immediate family and been able to have spent so much time with this remarkable person. I thank you for sharing him with me and his thousands of friends. Our deepest sympathy to you both
