Obituary for Rex Anthony Krauklis

Rex Krauklis, 65, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on January 12. He was born October 6, 1954 in Chicago Heights, IL, son of Daniel and Hazel Krauklis.

Rex retired from UPS after 30 years of service. He was a 757/767 pilot (Captain), simulator instructor, Check Airmen and FAA Designee. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, with a degree in Aviation.

Rex’s passion for flying started as young as 12. He started flying lessons at 15 and soloed at 16. He also enjoyed riding his bike, and loved his family and his cats.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Kurtyka Krauklis; son, Bryan, of Bloomington, IN; Grandson, Finn; Granddaughter, Sawyer; brothers, Jeff (Brenda) of West Virginia, and Mark, of Texas; sisters, Frona (Andrew) Tressler of Illinois, and Tammy (Larry) Seutter of South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Ginger Zielinski, Mary Ann (Sal) Guliuzza, and Veronica Blake, all of Connecticut; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. Visitation will be Monday, January 20, 2020, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm.
