Obituary for Richard Fletcher Vinson

Vinson, Richard Fletcher, 86, formerly of Louisville, died peacefully on February 11, 2022, at his home in California, KY.

Dick was born May 11, 1935, in Hemphill, KY, to the late Richard F. Vinson, Sr. and Hazel (Miller) Vinson. He was a 1953 graduate of Wayland High School and went on to graduate from UK in 1960. He was a veteran of the US Army in which he served as a cryptographer. He went on to work 28 years for Ohio Casualty Insurance Company and retired as a Bond Manager.

Dick married Joan (Dupraz) Vinson on May 22, 1964, and they were happily married until her death in 1995.

Besides his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by nieces, Patti Koeltz and Bonnie Peabody.

Dick is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Royce (James) of Tupelo, MS; sister-in-law, Peggy (Dupraz) Peabody; niece, Julie Wade (Happy); nephews, Richard Peabody and David Peabody (Mercury); and several great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4pm-8pm Thursday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Funeral Mass 11am Friday at St. John Paul II Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
