Obituary for Bob Andersen

Robert Bruce Andersen, 78, of Louisville, passed away peacefully March 31, 2023 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born September 18, 1944 in Worthington Ohio, the youngest of five children. He grew up working on the family farm and in his father’s lumber business.

Bob attended Ohio University where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering and was a four-year starter in football for the Bobcats. He embarked on a 40-year career in engineering, largely with Ashland Oil, and his project management work allowed him to travel the world. Bob was an avid golfer throughout his life and earned the ironic nickname “Easy Swing”. He also enjoyed the pastimes of tennis, fishing, watching sports and listening to live music. He loved dancing and was known to dance and sing up to his very last days. Bob was a devoted father and grandfather (Bobpaw). He had an easy, unassuming, blue skies personality and navigated his illness with grace and dignity.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Saundra Morley Andersen. He is survived by his children, Shannon Andersen Thomas (Ian) and Robert Daniel Andersen (Karen); grandchildren, Audrey, Julia, Ben and Alice Thomas and Carson, Lily and Tanner Andersen; and siblings, Vivian Compton and Susan Katona.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 29th from 11am-3pm, with his funeral service at 3pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
