Obituary for Robert "Steve" Brown
Robert Stephen “Steve” Brown, 76, passed away on February 3rd, 2023. He was born on March 8th, 1947 in Columbus, IN, grew up in Jeffersonville, and lived in Louisville since 1991. He was the son of Robert Singer Brown and Christina Hauck Brown.
Steve retired from Philip Morris in 2000 after a 25-year career. He loved Christmas and Halloween, and hated “rabbit food” (vegetables). He deeply loved his Brittany, Kenzie. He had a passion for the Louisville Cardinals. Throughout his life he loved playing softball, golf, bowling, yardwork and DIY projects. He was a proud Army Vietnam Veteran, and one of the greatest experiences of his life was going on the Bluegrass Honor Flight with his son, Stephen, in 2023.
He was survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Valerie Brown of Louisville, KY; son Stephen (Tonda) Brown of Jeffersontown, KY; son Ryan (Katie) Brown of Oswego, IL; grandchildren Faith, Peyton, Stevie and Canon Brown. Siblings: Susan “Susie” (Mike) Dunn of Jeffersonville, IN; Mike (Lynn) Brown of Somerset, KY; Greg (Donna) Brown of New Albany, IN; brothers-in-law Don Ashby and Nute Lukins of Jeffersonville, IN and Fred (Jennifer) Martin of Plantation, FL; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; siblings Leland Brown of Columbus, IN; Nancy (Nute) Lukins of Jeffersonville, IN; Jacque Coffey of Columbus, IN; and Phyllis (Don) Ashby of Jeffersonville, IN.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 10th from 10AM-12PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road with graveside service at Calvary Cemetery immediately following.
