Obituary for Sinclair Davies

Robert “Sinclair” Davies, III, age 30, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at UofL Hospital.

Born in Louisville, Sinclair was a graduate of St. Xavier H.S., Centre College, where he was a member and President of Sigma Chi, and the University of Kentucky College of Law. He swam for Lakeside Swim Team and Centre College. He was also a member of Big Spring Country Club, where he swam and coached. Sinclair worked in the trust department at PNC Bank.

Sinclair was an old soul who enjoyed history and sharing unique facts with everyone. He was passionate about golf and loved walking the beaches of Kiawah Island. We will miss his smile, quick wit, and sometimes bossy nature. Sinclair maintained a deep faith and was optimistic throughout his two- year battle with cancer. We are especially thankful for the 6th floor Burn Unit staff at UofL Hospital, who became our extended family, and appreciate Dr. Choo and Dr. Egger’s support and patience throughout our journey. Sinclair was also grateful for the love and support he received from his family and friends.

Sinclair was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Bettianne Davies and Joy Maher; and an uncle, Kevin Maher.

He is survived by his parents, Robert S. Davies Jr. and Martha A. Davies; his brother, A. Spencer Davies; uncles, Harry and Tommy Davies and David (Kristi) and Dennis Maher; his loving cousins; and his furry siblings, Bea, “Marv” (a/k/a Winnie) and Palmer.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 531 E Liberty St., with a family burial at Cave Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home (where his great- grandfather, Alton Neurath, was a founding owner), 3331 Taylorsville Road.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Brown Cancer Center.
