Robert (Bob) Bell Henry, Jr.
Robert (Bob) Bell Henry, Jr., 92, of Louisville, died Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home in Jeffersontown.

Born in 1925, he was the son of Robert B. Henry, Sr. and Stella Hoagland Henry. His parents and sister, Jeanette Henry Cain, preceded him in death.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served as an infantryman in World War II, after graduating from Male High School in 1942. Wounded in Mindanao, Philippines, he was awarded a Purple Heart, and later, a Bronze Star. Following the war, he earned his degree at Centre College and served in the Army Reserve as an intelligence officer. He retired in the rank of Lt. Colonel. In civilian life, he was a safety engineer at the U.S. Army Material Command Field Safety Agency for 30 years.

“Bob” loved his family, reading history, swimming, travel, and UK basketball. He was active in Christ Lutheran Church and was a Freemason.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Gerth), of 66 years, daughters Jane Daly (Peter), Janet Jospe (Robert), and son, Robert Henry (Donita); three grandchildren, Lauren Rogers (Brandon), Samantha Raybould (Ben), and John Daly; and three great-grandchildren - Hunter, Audrey, and Walter.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 9212 Taylorsville Rd. with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
