Obituary for Robert James "Bob" Ogburn

Robert (“Bob”) James Ogburn, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and faithful brother in Christ passed away suddenly on June 7, 2022 at the age of 61 while enjoying a relaxing vacation in the Cayman Islands.

He is survived by his wife Michelle; children Corey (Brittany), Taylor (Kevin), and Jessica (Andrew); his mother Beverly; his sister Deborah; and his granddaughters, Peyton and Adley. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Ogburn.

Bob had a passion for several things. To name a few: morning coffee and Bible studies, cycling hundreds of miles, sunset cruises on the boat, Big Green Egg cookouts, skiing Breckinridge slopes, playing Pink Floyd too loud, coaching Special Olympics sports, Indiana basketball, and the Home of the Innocents non-profit.

Nevertheless, his greatest earthly love was for his family. Selfless with his time and energy, he was a loving son and brother. He met the love of his life, Michelle, in 1983 and married in 1985. They quickly became outnumbered with 3 children and later, 2 adored grandchildren. A dedicated husband to his wife, father to his kids, and “Papa Auggie” to his grandchildren, he led each to cherish people and time as opposed to earthly
possessions.

One like Bob is rare, and words can never match the true legacy that he leaves behind – a servant of the Lord, a family man, and a friend to all. He will be missed by many and remembered by the way he loved others just as God commanded.

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
