Obituary for Robert Wesley Pitts

Robert Wesley Pitts came into the world on September 3, 1943, and left the world on April 20, 2021. He loved his God, his family, his dogs, The New York Yankees, Jeff Gordon, the Ole Miss Rebels, the Louisville Cardinals, crossword puzzles, pastoring, preaching about Jesus, and Associational Missions.

Wesley was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alice and Preston Pitts, Laura McVay and John Westmoreland; his parents, Roberta and Theron Pitts, and his Step-Dad, Homer Gentry. His family who remains behind are his wife, Diane; his son, Michael Pitts; his sisters and brothers: Jeanette (Jim) Henry, Linda (Harvey) Sewell, Jerry (Joy) Pitts, and Tim Gentry. He had two wonderful grandchildren, Asher and Bella Pitts. Wesley was blessed with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by a chosen daughter, Cindy Rial.

There will be a visitation at Walnut Street Baptist Church on April 23, 2021 from 11AM until 1:00 PM, and a memorial service immediately following. There will be a visitation and a memorial service immediately following at Zion Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Wesley graduated from Pontotoc High School, Clark Junior College, Mississippi College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He had pastored Macedonia Church, Prairie FBC, West Shiloh Baptist Church, Collierville FBC, and McKenzie FBC. Wesley was an Associational Director of Missions at Cumberland Baptist Association, Clarksville, TN and LRBA in Louisville, KY. He also served many wonderful churches as interim pastor after retiring.
