Obituary for Robert Thomas "Bob" Zaremba Sr.

Robert “Bob” Thomas Zaremba, Sr. passed away unexpectedly at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY, on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the age of 72, surrounded by family.

Bob, as everyone knew him, was born on July 29, 1950 in Mundelein, Illinois to the late Edward Stanley and Jean Ruth (nee Lepkowski) Zaremba. He was the middle of three children, having spent much of his childhood moving around before finally calling Louisville, KY home. Bob attended Waggener High School and eventually became a Diesel Mechanic, working for Cummins Crosspoint his entire career.

Bob married the love of his life and very best friend Debbie (nee Motherhead) on July 12, 1993. For 29 years they spent their time inseparable; traveling, boating, and enjoying the simple days together. Bob’s three children, son, Tom, and daughter, Angela, born to his first wife of 25 years, Ada (nee Bryant), and daughter, Brittany, meant the world to him. He was extremely proud of each of them and looked forward to the moments they had as a family, whether it was on the boat, traveling, or anything outdoors.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was outgoing, funny, and loved to make others laugh and smile. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed spending time at The Bonnycastle Club, and could always find something to tinker with or fix. If you didn’t know how to do it, Bob was more than willing to “show” you or help you do it the “right” way. He loved a good glass of bourbon and made the best breakfast in town. A true animal lover, you could always find some nuts and a bowl of water on the front porch for the racoons or squirrels and found joy in watching nature outside his front door.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Zaremba; son, Robert Thomas “Tom” Zaremba, Jr. (Trina); daughters, Angela Zaremba (Allyson) and Brittany Sparks (Daniel); grandchildren, Alec (Emely), Zachary, Travis, Gabriel, Grayson, Madelyn, Katelyn, Garrett, and Colton; two sisters, Cindy Waterman (David) and Karen Newton (Tom); many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and an abundance of friends made throughout the years.

Visitation hours will be on Friday, September 30th, from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. with a service to celebrate Bob’s life following immediately after visitation at 7 p.m. Both the visitation and service will be held at the Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205.
