Obituary for Sandra Grider (Kenyon)

Sandra Kenyon Grider passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2021, at her home.

Sandy was born on March 23, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ronald and Margaret Kenyon; sister, Sharon; and her late husband of 22 years, Jim Grider.

Sandy attended Colorado Women’s College before moving to Louisville in 1968, where she lovingly raised her two boys, Christopher and Schuyler. Sandy was a dedicated and caring mother, attending countless swim meets, soccer games, and school functions.

She devoted her life to her boys and loved watching them become fathers to her 5 grandchildren. Sandy will forever have a strong influence on the lives of her children and grandchildren.

Sandy loved numbers, and was a bookkeeper for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, playing golf, and making memories with her parents in Chicago. You could often find her on the Ohio River boating and playing cards with her husband, Jim. She always had a soft spot for animals, especially her beloved dogs.

Sandy will be deeply missed by her loved ones and everyone who knew her.

Sandy leaves behind her son, Christopher Kenyon John, and his wife, Jenny; their children, Kenyon, Kemper, and Colston; her son, Schuyler Maurice John, and his wife, Christina; their sons Ryder and Boden; her sister, Rhonda Hill, and her husband, Derek; nieces, Wendy Johnson (Joel) and Allison Brimmer; and a cousin, Richard Quigley.

We want to thank the loving caregivers and team at Hosparus who helped us watch over Sandy these last few months. Your love was incredible and meant so much to our family.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, 4:30pm - 7:00 pm, at Highlands Funeral Home, located at 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40205.
