Obituary for Sarah Darcus Sloan (Wicker)
Sarah Darcus Sloan, 87, passed away on Friday, Dec. 9th, 2022, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Born on June 19th, 1935 in McDowell, KY, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Sadie (Howell) Wicker.
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister. She loved being with family, beautiful flowers, and gardening. She loved to travel and relaxing on the front porch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond B. Sloan; grandson, Andrew Hall; daughter-in-law, Sandra Sloan; parents; brothers, Pervis and Anthony Wicker and MacArthur Slone; and sister, Anna Lois Watson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vonda Pollock (Tim), Bill Sloan (Sally Higgins), and Pam Hall (Norman); sister, Sennie Keen; brother, Larry Slone (Sandy); grandchildren, Bradley Wright (Jennifer), Douglas Wright, Sloan Pollock (Angela), Joseph Sloan, Shannon Soard (Aaron), Stacie Sloan (BJ), James Sipes (Hannah), Eric Sipes (Sandy), and Maggie Hall; great-grandchildren, Fletcher Wright, Brandon Wright, Gavin Wright, Tony Wright, Josh Brodsky, Ethan Stevens, Shelby Sloan, Aysia Sloan, Anderson Sloan, Carpenter Sloan, Ashton Soard, Larissa Soard, Braiden Monaghan, Brodie Monaghan, Cole Sipes, Gracie Sipes, Lilly Sipes, and Gabriella Sipes; and great-great grandchildren, Jordan Brodsky and Grayson Wright.
Her visitation will be 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18th, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19th, at Highlands, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
