Obituary for Scott Holden Crawford

Scott Holden Crawford
Scott Holden Crawford, 45, beloved husband of Shannon, and cherished father of Katelyn (9) and Chase (7), died at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on February 21st, after a tenacious struggle against colon cancer. His life, while cut tragically short, is an inspiration to us all.
Scott was born April 9th, 1972, in Augsburg, Germany, to a beaming Lieutenant and Mrs. (Dorn and Kate) Crawford. In successive military postings around the world, his natural gregariousness, affinity for sports, and outgoing manner made an impact wherever he went. But his Kentucky genes were strong, calling him home even ahead of his parents’ inevitable return, through college at UK, a business degree, and a lifelong circle of friends from his SAE fraternity and many other campus affiliations.
His business skills, as well as his natural ability for negotiation and marketing, led to a series of standout successes in pharmaceuticals, financial planning, and capital realty management. To every professional challenge he brought high energy, enthusiasm and acute mastery.
Still, these attributes pale against his fierce commitment and devotion to his family. He was relentless in his courtship and marriage to Shannon, the love of his life, and a joyous father and mentor to his two precious children. Amid a host of professional, civic, social and fraternal avocations, his bedrock determination to see to their welfare surpassed all else.
Scott is survived, in sorrow, by Shannon, Katelyn and Chase; his treasured sister, Carrie; father, Dorn; extended family of Crawfords and Carmicles; and countless friends, colleagues and associates. Into God’s hands, and his late mother’s, we commend his spirit. Requiescat.
Visitation is scheduled at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Monday, February 26th, 2–7 PM. The funeral service will be held at his parish, Middletown Christian Church, 500 Watterson Trail, Tuesday, February 27th at 11 AM.
