Obituary for Sharon M. Folsom (Carricato)
Sharon Marie Carricato Folsom, 78, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023 with her daughters by her side.
Born on July 13, 1945 to Bill and Dot Carricato of Shively, Sharon attended St. Colombo and St. Helen Grade Schools and Angela Merici High School. She graduated from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati with a degree in Biology and spent the next 30 years teaching and inspiring students at Sacred Heart, St. Margaret Mary, St. Pius, Mercy Montessori and St. Martha. After retiring from the parochial school system, she continued to work for and support the family business (Folsom Academy Of The Arts) for next 22 years where she was affectionately known as Mama Sherri.
Along with being an avid supporter of the performing arts, Sharon donated her time and talents to countless organizations and individuals in need. Her heart was as big as her smile. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, playing cards, watching Jeopardy and big family gatherings.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Jean and William D. Carricato, Sr. and her brother Donald R. Carricato. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, James David Folsom; 2 daughters, Heather Paige Folsom and Holly Folsom (Shane) Kruse; 2 grandchildren, Kennedy and Carson Kruse who she loved “to the moon and back”; sisters Sue (Bill) Kalchbrenner and Debbie Kelty; brother Bill (Dedra) Carricato, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road with a memorial service following at 6pm. You’re invited to wear your boldest and brightest colors in her honor. Pink was her favorite!
