Obituary for Shirley Ann Renders (Gruner)
RENDERS, Shirley Gruner, 74, peacefully passed away May 24, 2021.
She was born on October 20, 1946, and was married to Thomas J. Renders for nearly 50 years.
She was a 1964 graduate of Ursuline Academy, and retired as a teacher’s assistant from St. Agnes Parish School, where she was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Renders; sister, Linda Gruner Mayer; parents, William and Helen Gruner; parents-in-law, William and Jane Renders; and brother-in-law, William Renders.
Shirley was the mother of Anne Marie Renders Brown (Pat) of Louisville, and Stephanie Austin Renders Mueller (Samuel) of Tampa, FL.; grandmother to Abigail Marie Brown and Patrick Anthony Brown of Louisville, and Madeline Grace Mueller and Sophia Jane Mueller of Tampa, FL.
She is also survived by her sister, Sandra K. Haag (Richard); brother-in-law Edward Mayer; brother-in-law, Richard Renders (Julia); sister-in-law, Pam Renders; and many nephews, cousins and extended family.'
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, May 28, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
