Obituary for Stella Ann Thompson (Nuss)
Stella Ann Nuss Thompson, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.
She is retired from the Jefferson County Public School System after 30 years of teaching and working in budgeting administration. She taught 8th grade math on television to many of the city's baby boomers. She graduated from Atherton High School and graduated from The University of Louisville with a B.A. degree in math and a master's degree in education.
Stella was preceeded in death by her daughter, Sandra Jones and her son, John Thompson along with her brothers Alvin and C. W. Nuss and her sister Virginia Lewis.
She is survived by her husband, Jack V. Thompson; sister, Alice Summers; son, James S. Thompson (Karen); daughter, Jeanne P. Werner (Larry); daughter-in-law, Cynthia Thompson; two granddaughters, Kimberly Thompson and Lauren Werner (Jorge); two grandsons, Jacob Werner (Breana) and Joshua Thompson (Elizabeth); and great grandchildren Wyatt, Benjamin, and Evelyn Werner; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Stella’s funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
She will be missed more than words can say and only the heart can feel.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
