He is predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Frederick Houser.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Julie Houser; daughter, Kristen Houser; sisters, Suzanne Carter (Jimmy), Sharon Kraft (Eddie), Diane Biller (Vince), Debbie Goul (Brian); and brother, Michael Houser.

His funeral service will be Monday, December 31, 2018 at noon at Sojourn Church East, 2501 Rudy Ln. with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Highway.
Visitation will be 1-7 p.m.Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

Steve maintained a profound love for his family. Their love for him was evidenced by their selfless devotion and attention to him during his life as well as during his illness. His kind and friendly nature made him easy to talk with, quick to make friends and he maintained many long-term friendships. His loving heart was bigger than his body and he shared his love with all who knew him. Steve’s love for Julie was steadfast, unwavering, and enduring. His faith and study of his beliefs enriched their relationship and to the last minute he was concerned first with Julie. Kristen was the joy that Steve shared with Julie and he shined with love and pride when talking about her or being with her. He often said that his relationships and life with them were his greatest treasures and accomplishments and the two things that he never stopped working at to improve and enrich.

Steve’s hobbies and interests were wide and varied. He loved music, exterior illumination and anything with an engine. He was always quick to photograph things that he found interesting and beautiful. His photographic interests led him on many adventures. Steve also had a life-long fascination and love for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, and personal watercraft. Over the years he had a variety of these vehicles and could always be found wearing a big grin when riding them. He loved the covered back porch of his home and the yard behind it. He had a passion for lighting and lit his back yard in a serene and welcoming way. He would often entertain friends and family there where the calming sounds of his wind chimes could be enjoyed while setting a welcoming and comforting mood for all. Always the adventurer and dreamer some would say that his kind nature and good luck saved him more than once from what could have been adversity and instead turned into fond and sometimes funny memories.

All will miss Steve’s character, compassion, and loving nature. His memory will be forever cherished and celebrated by all who knew him. Steve has gained his place in heaven and his spirit will always be felt and warmly remembered.

The family requests donations be made to Bside U for life, in honor of Steve.

Isaiah 61: 1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

My heart ❤️ is sad, you will be missed Steve. Thank you for loving 🥰 my mom, for calling her to keep in touch, and coming to see her. You made her feel so special and that was one of the many blessings that God gave you. I pray God wraps his arms around your family and gives them strength and peace. I love you!

I am very sorry for your loss . Losing a loved one in death is such a difficult thing to experience . Please be comforted by the promises in the Bible . Jesus tells us at John 5 : 28 , 29 that all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out . What a loving provision put in place by the God of all comfort so we can have the assured hope of seeing our dead loved ones live again one day . Meanwhile as I pray for that day to come I ask Jehovah God to bless your family and give each of you the strength to endure this most trying time . For more Bible promises please visit .
