Obituary for Theodore Stewart

STEWART, THEODORE R., 81, entered eternal life suddenly May 7, 2010.
He was the son of Carl W. Stewart and his wife, the former Anna Marie Zaeh, A native Louisvillian, he grew up in the Highlands, graduated from duPont Manual High School in 1946 and held two degrees from the University of Louisville, where he was president of several organizations, including the Delta Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Before service in the Korean War he owned and operated Bluegrass Photo Service and was well known throughout the Highlands for his wedding photos. He spent two years in Korea as a member of KMAG, where he operated the Pusan supply depot for the Korean Army. He was also the CEO of the old Stewart's Appliance and Furniture, Derby City Rentals, and operated a cattle and tobacco farm in Shelby County. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 47 years, a patriot, a Republican and a maverick all his life.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Ann Hart; two children, Leslie Anne and Douglas Stewart; and cousins in Louisville, California and Madison, IN.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 and 9:30 a.m. to his funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery following the funeral service.
