STIGALL, Thomas G. M.D., passed away peacefully March 19, 2010. He was born June 24, 1921 in West Point, Mississippi. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville and a 1946 graduate of the U of L School of Medicine. In 1951 Thomas started a private practice in Internal Medicine. His military service started at the age of 16, when he served in the KY National Guard for 3 years. During WWII he was in the Naval Reserve medical school training program. In 1954-1956 he served as an Army Captain in the Medical Corps in South Korea and Japan. After service, he resumed private practice in Internal Medicine until he retired in 1989. Thomas was an avid golfer and fisherman and a 43 year member of Wildwood Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mariam; sons, David, John, and William; brothers, Ben Stigall M.D.; a sister, Virginia; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; a brother-in-law, Charles C. Smith; and nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, with private burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation is prior to service Monday from 11a.m.-1p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville,or donor's favorite charity.
