Obituary for Virginia Baker (Brewer)

Virginia Ann Baker, 93, of Louisville, passed away, Friday, August 30, 2019 at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born, July 12, 1926, daughter of the late Henry Eugene and Mary Agnes Breckel Brewer. Virginia was a native of Louisville, Ky. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and was a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi and Ursuline Academy.

Virginia raised seven children and was an active member of her parish, and a member of Highgate and St. Raphael's Homecraft Clubs. Virginia loved and was energized by needlework and culinary challenges gifting her family and friends with the work of her hands all her life. She was the most wonderful wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandma, and Gigi in the world.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert A. Baker; brothers, C. Eugene Brewer and Robert I. Brewer and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Brewer, Nancy Elaine Brewer, and Mary Jane Cloud Lannum.

She is survived by her children, Eugene Allaire (Patsy), Linda Marie (Bill) McAvinue, Margaret Ellen (John) Buelke, Robert Lee (Susan), Beverly Ann (Mark) Mitchell, Ronald Alan (Debbie), and Kevin Hansen (Karen); her sisters, Therese Baumann, her brother, Gerald F. (Betty) Brewer; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, Ky 40205. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Raphael the Archangel, 2141 Lancashire Ave, Louisville, KY 40205. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
