Obituary for Virginia P. GERING

GERING, VIRGINIA (POHL), 87, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Christopher East Nursing Home after an extended illness.
She was born March 5, 1922, the ninth child of 11 to August and Rose Miller Pohl in Louisville. She met and married the love of her life in 1947, her husband of 54 years, Carl H. Gering Sr., who preceded her in death on March 17, 2001. Mother's greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife and mother who generously gave of her heart to others.
She is survived by her only living sister, Olivia Curran; her children and their spouses, Carolyn and David Drumm of Conyers, GA, Carl Jr. and Linda Gering of Louisville, Christine and Dr. Allan Reid of Henderson, KY, Cynthia Gering of Punta Gorda, FL; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The Gering family would like to thank Christopher East's nursing staff and administration for their kind and compassionate care for our Mother during her stay.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, our family chain will link again.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Cavalry Cemetery Chapel, 1600 Newburg Road. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
