McWHORTER, Wayne F., 82, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East. Born in LaFayette, Georgia, Wayne served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, graduated from Georgia Tech, and retired from Celanese Chemical Corporation as a Chemical Engineer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gladys McWhorter and a brother, Fred McWhorter. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, the former Raegan Litton; sons, Mark McWhorter and Neal McWhorter (Kathryn); step-son, Stephen Runner; step-daughter, S. Morgan Runner; brother, R. Clayton McWhorter (Michelle); sister Bernice Beasley (Raymond); two grandchildren, Leia McWhorter-Pusateri and Moira McWhorter-Pusateri; 6 nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m., at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
